I love camping....

This photo is from January, see how prompt I am at getting my layouts done! I didn't take any photos the whole time we were camping, (very unlike me) except this one. Everyone loves a conga line, this is how we would take the children places to ensure we had no casualties.

Good memories even though the weather was crap, the company was good.

A couple of cards....

Hi girlies!

It's school holidays here so I am knee deep in barbies and colouring books. They are both colouring quite happily so I thought I'd steal the moment to add a couple of cards. I could have used this time to do housework ha! not likely.

So anyways, cards, yes these three I did a while ago but I'm trying to catch up and post them all. I have photographed loads of layouts to post but since we reformatted the computer my Photoshop seems to be funky, have to get the husband onto that.

Supplies: Patterned Papers - DCWV Garden Party, Lettering stickers - Basic Grey, Paper Flower - Handmade using Tim Holtz Tattered Florals Die, Stickpin - Made by me, Ink - Tim Holtz Distress Ink

Supplies: Patterned Papers -K & Company, Stamps - Hero Arts, Paper Flower - Handmade using Tim Holtz Tattered Florals Die, Stickpin - Made by me, Ink - Tim Holtz Distress Ink, Pearls - Kaisercraft

Supplies: Patterned Papers -MME, Echo Park, Stamps - American Crafts, Ribbon - Local stamp store, Ink (Edge) - Tim Holtz Distress Ink, (Sentiment) - Versacolor Cube

I'm back .........

Well girls it's been a little bit of a hiatus, like 6 months or so. It wasn't really intentional and I think anyone that actually checks the blog will probably fall over with shock! I know you're probably thinking Holy Crap her blog has been hacked, but no it really is me.

For those of you that don't know, we are pregnant with our third baby (due December) and I do tend to lose my creative mojo when I'm pregnant. But I just had a fab weekend away with my dear friend Tammy at a scrapbooking retreat, a couple of girls there asked if I had a blog and I was embarrassed to say I do but it's so uncool even I haven't been hanging out there. So I'm back, I have a ton of layouts to post, some cards (I keep forgetting to photograph them and then they are gone forever). I am loading all of my cards onto  flicker now and will put a link in to them soon, that way I can just post the new stuff and if you're keen you can check it out over there.

I met three lovely girls while away in the weekend, all totally brave and had come to the retreat by themselves. So a big hi to Michelle, Tania and Jo, thanks for all the laughs girls.

Must go now and supervise the small person, will try and take pics when I locate the phone charger!
Have a sunshiney day

Friday..

Well it's a dreary Friday morning here with not a lot to do except housework, and we all know I will do almost anything to avoid that. I so wish I was one of those people that liked it, but it's just not my thing, you would think it should be in my DNA if you know my Mum but I just didn't get that gene. So here I am!

I have gone around this morning and taken a lot of photos of the earthquake damage to the house, all the little things I know I will forget about and you will just get used to seeing. We won't see ECQ for about 4 months so I wanted to get those done because I have a terrible memory. I think that's one of the main reasons I journal a lot, so many people avoid journalling, they don't know what to say etc, I am honestly aware that I will probably forget. I have forgotten tons of things about when the girls were babies already, but I can go back and look which is lovely.

A couple more layouts I've done, still working through the old photos making myself get them done. Some of the photos aren't great but the memories are!

First layout is one I have been meaning to do, of my sister in law and my eldest...

Really into layouts right now....

Scrapbooking for me comes in ebbs and flows, sometimes it's so darn easy it falls together and other times I just sit there and stare at the paper. Being inspired and productive is very much an emotional thing for me, so if it's not there, it's not there I can't force it. I always seem to have loads of time when I'm in one of these slumps. The good news I'm not there right now! I am in the "I can't wait to get the dishes done so I can read my book again" frame of mind. It's just easy right now and I am so loving it. So I have been crafting my little heart out.

Firstly, my little Phia, "helping" in the garden...

Supplies: Cardstock - Bazzill, Pattered Paper - October Afternoon, Cosmo Cricket, Chipboard letter - lil davis, Stamp - Dear Lizzy, Brad - Martha Stewart, Border Punch - Fiskars

Supplies: Cardstock - Bazzill, Patterned Paper and Stickers - All MME Stella and Rose Hattie, Lettering - Cuttlebug

Supplies: Pattered Papers- Daily Junque House of Three, Lettering - The Girls Paperie, Numbers - K & Company

That's all for tonight, mainly cause I'm too tired to wait for it to upload.. lazy huh!
Hope your having a great night
Take care

So Two Peas in having this cardmaking and stamping event this month which is right up my alley, they are launching new product lines etc to expand and include a larger range.

Back into it...

Crafting is great therapy, we often joke that it's cheaper than therapy but sometimes I'm not sure about that! It has been a huge blessing during the last few months to have somewhere to escape to. I can get lost in it even if only for a short time. When everything around you isn't normal it's nice to have that place to go when you can just exhale. And exhale I have. I've actually been fairly productive, scrapbooking doesn't rely on water or electricity (for the most part) so you can actually do it regardless of those circumstances.

I shared a couple of layouts on Two Peas last week but hadn't got around to posting them here so here we go...

The girls and I chilling at the park, we spend a lot of time there.

I have a ton more layouts and cards and little projects to share, I'm hoping to free up some time this week. Olivia is starting at a new Kindergarten on Monday as our regular Kindergarten has now been labeled a rebuild after the earthquake. It's been sad but Kidsfirst have done a wonderful job with their priority being keeping the children and teachers together if possible. About 15 children from her morning class will be at this new Kindergarten along with her teachers to help her settle in. I am happy that we will be able to establish a routine again as it has been a little rough on her. So yah for that!

I, on the other hand need to get back to toilet training the little one, kinda hard when the toilet doesn't work! We did however go and let her select a sparkling new potty and I must say she really loves it. So I will be spending a bit of time on that, but I should also get a bit more time to photograph and get my blog running again.
Hope you are all having a fab dayHayley

M I A.....

I've been Missing in action for a while now and for any of you that don't know we had a devastating earthquake in my city on the 22nd February. We are safe and well, as of today we still don't have a working toilet but we do have power and water.

My heart is heavy and I am finding this quake a lot harder to deal with than our one is September. We lost a lot more than buildings this time, we lost a lot of people and it is so heartbreaking. Our life right now doesn't resemble much normality but we are so very grateful that we have our life.

The children are doing well, now that the aftershocks have subsided somewhat, our biggest issue is routine. Everything we usually do is closed, for how long I don't know, so no swimming, gymnastics, kindergarten, library etc. It's been a challenge to keep them busy and engaged, let's face it I'm just not that interesting! So we have started some homeschool work until things work themselves out. The Kindergarten building may need to be demolished so they are looking for something temporary. In some ways being at home is a blessing, because traveling on the roads right now (a lot are very damaged) can be super stressful. When you are out in it, it can be overwhelming and exhausting and I really am trying to limit how much of it the children see.

The first two weeks after I was still fairly numb, just getting through each day... my mind is a lot clearer now and I know we just need to put one foot in front of the other. It's going to take a long time but I am here for the long haul. Like I've said before it might be a pile of rubble but it's our pile of rubble.

Thanks dear friends for all your messages of concern and love, I really appreciated it.
When things were in a lot of turmoil, I really felt held up by a lot of you.
Thanks so very much and God bless
Hayley

I want to remember..

So I've been needing to get some of these old photos done, it's easy to flick past them especially when you have some new photos to do that seem interesting and fresh. Some of these photos hold the most simple special memories though, things that in years to come will warm my heart and transport me back to that spot. So I'm trying to work through them and trying not to forget why I took that photo in the first place. I want to remember.

When these little girls played all day with lego....

Brads: MME Lettering: Lego - American crafts Fanatics - Jenni Bowlin

I want to remember when my little one was this tiny and peaceful and sweet. Now she is more naughty than sweet, no longer tiny and there is not even a smidge of peacefulness. She is full of love though that one.

I made this layout for the Calendar girls challenge to make an eclectic mix of flowers on a layout, then I figured I would totally ruin it by trying to squeeze it into an album, so I popped it into this shadow box to go in Phia's room. Her walls are rose pink so it should look cute.

A tiny book to share..

So I joined an online group this year to keep me more motivated with my "actual" scrapbooking and to keep me from straying down these tangents that I am so fond of. It's called the Calendar girls (because it's a monthly thing, it is not the strip club that all my l0cals are thinking of, I repeat not the strip club). The idea is that you do a couple of layouts, sketch challenge and lift challenge, a non layout item and a DW challenge.

So last month the non layout item was a small book regarding your five goals for the year, man trying to narrow it down to five was tough, I could have gone on and on, I know none of you believe that because I'm so not a talker. ha! So yeah it was hard for me!

Anyways thought I would share it, I liked the way it turned out. Oh and the last page is my word for the year.

It's Superbowl Monday......

Woo Hoo!
J and I are big superbowl fans and we have a tradition of having the day off work and just hanging out. So he's off work today and we're having a big family day.
It's a great way to spend a Monday.
I may even get some crafting done, thank goodness it's not crazy hot like yesterday, that was a little too hot for me.

I have some things to share but I haven't got the photos done yet!
Have a fab day

Is it really Saturday again....

This week has just gotten away from me. I'm looking forward to getting back into the Kindergarten routine next week, I tend to thrive in routine because I know what to expect. Personality flaw alert! I am not that easy going, I would like to be, I am just not. I am trying to work within my limitations ha!

So anyways, went scrapbooking last night with my friend Tammy, Hi Tammy! and had such a fun time hanging out, as always not that productive but was awfully good for the soul. Thanks girl I'm looking forward to next time already.

A couple of cards I wanted to share, I think these turned out really cute if I do say so myself, I'm going to try and make some more today. The sun is shining though so who knows what the day holds!

Cards, cards and more cards .....

I have been flip flopping big time between my layouts and my cards, it seems no matter which I'm working on I seem drawn to the other. I think I need a bit of focus, my mind is going way faster than I can actually work.

I have done a few cards for the Card-a-day Challenge over at 2peas...

I made this one for my friends little girl who's party is in the weekend, it was all going fine until Olivia wanted to put the 3 on herself, now the balance is a little off but it was made with love.

Patterned Paper - Basic Grey & MME Chipboard - Basic Grey Ribbon - Have no idea!

I took just a few little supplies with me on holiday and of course because I was so limited I had loads of time and inspiration sigh! always the way. So I whipped up these two cards.
Patterned Paper - MME Alphabet Soup Ribbon -orange - American Crafts Green - no idea Lettering - Basic Grey
Diecut - Nestabilities (Thanks Bee!)

Patterned Paper - MME Fine and Dandy 6x6 pad Diecut - Nestabilites Rubon - Grace Taylor

Paper - MME Stamps - Truck (Tim Holtz) Sentiment (Hero Arts) Ink - Colorbox Chalk Ink & Tim Holtz Distress Inks

I'm trying to do a few more masculine cards, you know, because boys have birthdays too. I recently got these Tim Holtz stamps for that purpose and I really like them. I think my Dad maybe had a truck like this, guess what you're getting on your birthday card this year Dad! Surprise!
I really like this woodgrain embossing folder, sorry I have no clue who makes it, it was in a random two pack at my local warehouse.

Have a fab day everyone!

2011 - It's going to be a great year!

I want this to be a super creative year for me, so I'm really trying to get involved in lots of different challenges.

Last year I ran the Card-a-day Challenge over at 2peas and that was great for my production, I didn't make a card a day but I did make three or four a week, and the girls that stuck with me on that challenge were so great. We are back for another year and have got a whole lot of new recruits which is always a good thing. It makes somewhere like 2peas which is huge seem a little bit smaller, these girls will notice if you're not around and that's a nice feeling.

Between the card challenge and creating items for my store, my actual scrapbooking has kind of fallen to the way side and that is one thing I want to focus on this year too. It's easy to get in a funk with scrapbooking (for me, that's because it's emotional) and it can be far easier to focus on projects that don't involve that side of me. So I have joined a challenge on 2peas to keep me accountable and participating. I joined the Calendar girls group because they seemed a friendly lot. I think there are four challenges a month and I know I can keep up with that, I had actually done all four challenges in a week on holiday but couldn't post them.

So I have a few layouts to share:

The girls and their best friends sitting outside having lunch
Cardstock - Bazzill Patterned Paper - Cosmo Cricket

My sweet and very strong four year old
Cardstock - American Crafts Patterned Paper - Basic Grey & MME Embellishments - Basic Grey

This one is still a little warped after the glimmer mist I'm going to have to find some big books to flatten it out again.
Cardstock - Bazzill Patterned Paper - House of 3 Pink Paislee Lettering & Ribbon - Making Memories

The girls in their reindeer antlers, so fun!
Cardstock - Bazzill Patterned Paper & Diecut - Cosmo Cricket Buttons - Autumn Leaves

Anyways, thanks for stopping by, I will have some more things to share in the next few days.
Have a fab day.

December Daily - EPIC FAIL

So the album was all done, I was ready to go, we had so many plans for December, so many fun things to do. Then Liv got sick with this horrible virus that latest about a week, then I got it and then Sophia. So that was our December. I felt so sorry for the girls, it was really rough.

I was disappointed but it will be ready for this year.
Anyways I really wanted to get back into the blog because I have so much going on and so much to share.

I don't think I mentioned this already but I took part in a crafty swap on felt (the site where my store is) click the link at the top if you're interested. Anyways I took part in this swap and I wanted to share what I sent out, we received a little info like who they would like a gift for and what colours they liked. So I made these journals:

I was really happy with how they turned out, one great thing with papercrafting is no matter what colours people want I can do it!
Tomorrow I will be back to share some layouts, yes I said layouts, it's been a long time since I have done any, but I have done quite a few in the last week or so.
Also I will be sharing what challenges I have signed up for this year.
That's tomorrow
See you then
